Bishop of the Owo Diocese of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. James Oladunjoye, fears Nigeria may disintegrate under President Goodluck Jonathan if he fails to bring sponsors of the dreadful Boko Haram sect to book.

According to what he read on Friday during the Third Session of the 10th Synod held at the St. Paul’s Church, Ijagba in the Ose Local Government area of the state.

He said even if the country breaks up, members of the deadly sect would still be terrorising Christians and southerners in their midst and the problem could lead to a full blown war when the attacked decides to take up arms and fight their aggressors.

The cleric said unless Jonathan picks up sponsors of the sect with a view to bringing them to justice, they would ensure the total collapse of his government.

Oladunjoye said, “The sponsors of Boko haram are no longer in government or the corridors of power which they believe is their birthright. They are those that have been pushed away from controlling the national cake.

NUC suspension shocking, embarrassing – Varsities

Authorities of the private universities whose operational licenses were on Wednesday suspended by the National Universities Commission have expressed shock, disappointment and embarrassment over the NUC announcement.

The institutions said the NUC neither informed them of any form of wrongdoing, nor sent notice before making its decision public on Wednesday, adding that they learnt of the suspension for the first time in the media.

On Thursday, the Registrar of Madonna University, Mr. Theophilus Ugwoke, said the NUC announcement was a big surprise and an embarrassment. He said, “The point is that it is a big surprise to us. The university is not being mismanaged by anybody. Our transcripts and certificates are issued promptly. Everybody knows that issuance of transcript is based on request and that is what we have been doing. We also release our results promptly.

“We do not have any unapproved course and all our programmes are duly accredited by the NUC. As at today, all our programmes are approved. We operate from three campuses and all the campuses are conducive for learning, so the whole announcement is a big embarrassment to us.’’

He said the university would find out what it had done wrong from the NUC before taking any decision on the issue. “We want to find out where we went wrong, until we clear from them, we won’t take any decision,’’ he added.

Though the Achievers University declined giving a position on the issue, claiming that the Governing Council was yet to meet, sources close to the institution said the university was not informed of any form of wrongdoing by the NUC.

The source said the university learnt of the suspension for the first time in the media.

Also, the Director of Communication, Lead City University, Dr. Ayo Owolabi, said the NUC did not inform the institution of any wrongdoing.

He said the action of the regulatory body was also in contempt of the court as an earlier judgment obtained by the institution against the NUC had ordered it not to interrupt the activities of the university. He alleged that the action of the NUC was calculated to embarrass the university and “de-market” the institution. He accused the NUC leadership of bias against the institution.

Noting that the university would make its views known to the public, he said the university had not erred in any way and would continue to carry on with its activities despite the suspension order. Owolabi however, said the NUC action was capable of discouraging investors in the higher education sector. He advised that there should be a division between regulatory authorities and accreditation bodies to prevent accreditation exercises from being compromised.

The Registrar, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, Mr. Wale Aderibigbe, assured that the suspension order by the NUC would soon be reversed. In a telephone interview on Thursday, Aderibigbe said, “We are in Abuja already. We are on top of the situation. We hope that by tomorrow, our license shall be restored.” Asked what could have led to the suspension of license, Aderibigbe hinted that it could be the part-time programmes run by the school.

The management of Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra State, said there was no cause for alarm. The Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Chidi-Peters Okorie, told one of our correspondents on Thursday that contrary to the story going the round, the licence of the school was not withdrawn, but suspended. He said, “It is like the accreditation of courses. From time to time, the NUC comes around to set standards and check if you are meeting the standards.”

Meanwhile, management and staff of Caritas University in Enugu State on Thursday stopped its students from protesting against the suspension of the institution’s licence by the NUC.

A 200 level Computer Engineering students, Friday Igbologe, said, “It’s really quiet here because our students are not really violent. There would have been a protest, but the school management and our lecturers were able to avert it by calming the students; by telling them that the university only needs to fix one or two things and the licence would be restored.”

The Club last visited Africa during a tour to South Africa in July 1993, and is returning as a result of the fantastic support which exists for the team, not only in Nigeria, but across the entire continent.

The visit to Nigeria will conclude an exciting pre-season tour schedule for Arsenal, who return to both China and Malaysia in July, following the success of last term’ Asia Tour.

The Asia leg starts in Kuala Lumpur, where the team will face a Malaysia XI on Tuesday, July 24. The Gunners then travel to China for a match against Manchester City in Beijing on Friday, July 27, followed by a trip to Hong Kong to play Kitchee FC on Sunday, July 29.

JABU’S VC DECRY STUDENT UNION OVER AWARD NIGHT

The vice chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Professor Sola Fajana has expressed bitterness towards JABU Award Night, during the Wednesday community prayer service.

He decried the student Union, for deceiving the school management, and also condemned the award given to the most beautiful girl, as this was because the lady did not dress to glorify God. He further explained that he was happy that a whole Bishop that was invited to the event did not make it, as this would have tarnished the image of the school in his presence.

The vice chancellor, also condemned Olamide’s performance, as the star musician used the chapel seats as a stepping stone to climb forward, and also for performing half naked in a faith based school.

According to a student, who does not want his name to be disclosed, said the management only wanted to cover up for their actions, because they were laughing and enjoying themselves while olamide was performing. He further explained that Olamide should not have been accepted, when they know the kind of songs he sings, and still they paid him huge money which should have been distributed freely to JABU students.The service was later brought to an end, when Pastor D O Alabi, took the school in a round of Prayers and deliverance

Massive protest in UNILAG over naming of varsity after Abiola

Thousands of students of the University of Lagos are protesting the change of name of the school which was announced by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The students are chanting anti-government slogans, saying the president’s decision is the worst he had ever taken. They vowed to resist the renaming of the institution. The protesters are heading towards the school gate and are about pouring into the streets.The school was renamed after the late businessman, politician and philanthropist, Moshood Abiola.The students are now outside the university main gate creating a human blockade to all vehicles trying to access the school. They are chanting, “We no want.”

Nigeria Gets Foreign Aid from 17 countries to Fight Boko Haram

     While some Nigerian politicians are talking about negotiating with Boko Haram, the military is preparing for battle with the militant group. Seventeen countries have signed on to help Nigeria increase security. 

The Nigerian military is acquiring new boats and helicopters and is fixing up fighter jets. In a speech in Abuja, Minster of Defense Bello Haliru Mohammed said training and re-training military personnel is a top priority, considering the security threats in Nigeria. The minister said Nigeria has signed military deals with 17 countries to help quell attacks blamed on the Islamist extremist group. The group is believed to have killed more than 1,000 people since it began violent operations in 2009, attacking churches, markets, schools, security forces, the local U.N. headquarters and newspaper offices.
Wole Olaoye, a political analyst with Nigeria’s Leadership newspapers, said foreign assistance could allow Nigeria to benefit from lessons learned abroad. He said this kind of clandestine insurgency is new to Nigeria and while the government looks at security approaches and the possibility of negotiations, they also should be looking at new solutions and a greater reliance on technology. Like many Nigerians, he makes a point of saying foreign assistance will not be welcomed if it threatens national sovereignty. 

Other analysts also say the longer Boko Haram is able to carry out attacks, the more reason the world outside Nigeria has to be worried. Political columnist Idang Alibi said if the group continues to operate inside Nigeria, it could branch out like al-Qaida. “If you allow a group like Boko Haram here it will become a base for the training of terrorists, they become more sophisticated and become a threat to other countries,” said Alibi. Alibi said Nigeria also should be wary of military aid because he believes the Boko Haram threat is a result of social problems, like extreme poverty and unemployment in Nigeria’s mostly-Muslim north. He said foreign assistance should not bring more weapons into Nigeria, but help the country’s economy grow.

SPORTS: AC Milan ready to sell Pato, Robinho, Cassano or Boateng

  Rossoneri might be forced to sell at least one of the four attackers to generate more funds for the transfer without selling Ibramovic and Thiago Silva.

          Rossoneri needs to sell some players ahead of the 2012/2013 season to generate more transfer funds. Ibramovic and Thiago Silva have attracted a lot of clubs and their sale will boost up the cash flow of the club but AC Milan has refused to sell them out.

Pato, Robinho, Cassano and Boateng are very important players and are part of the eleven for the past two seasons but the club sees no reason not sacrifice at least one of the players to save the team.

Pato, a 22 year old player. He is a Brazilian striker. P.S.G coach Carlo Ancelotti has interest in the Brazilian striker. He might make his move this summer.

Robinho, a 28 year midfielder and also a Brazilian player. He has been linked with a return to Santos. Although the Brazilian giant appear reluctant to pay a hefty transfer fee for the attacker. Rossoneri can’t sell him a cheap price.

Boateng has caught the attention of several Premier league clubs. The sale of the former Ghana player would generate high price for the club.

Cassano has not really caught  the interest of clubs at this point but Rossoneri that a fine display at EURO 2012 will help the attacker catch the attention of some big Europe club.

NEWS: Goodluck Jonathan Almost Fights Priest For Praying Against Corrupt Leaders !!

It was with great shock that Nigerians watched how their president, governors, ministers and many of those managing the nation’s resources failed to demonstrate a public commitment to the fight against corruption on Sunday in Abuja.

At the service held at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, to commemorate the 2012 Democracy Day, nfc observed that the guest preacher, Most Reverend Peter Akinola, in his sermon, challenged Mr. President and his entourage to pray against politicians stealing Nigerians wealth but unfortunately, they went blank.

The congregation, including the President, his wife, Patience, the Governor of Bayelsa, Seriake d*1*ckson and Kaduna, Patrick Yakowa, Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state, Dameshi Luka, as well as ministers failed to respond to prayers to take corrupt officials “to the court of God.”

Apparently, expecting to hear a thunderous YES from the congregation, the Reverend, who instead got a deafening silence, exclaimed: “There you go! Oh, corruption! So, you are not ready to fight it, because you are all beneficiaries of it. Whether you steal in a small or big way, stealing is stealing.”Apparently disappointed with the response he got, the clergyman shot angrily at President Jonathan and his delegation, “See, it is very clear. You are not interested in fighting corruption. If you do, let us take our case to the court of God, if you dare. Who is deceiving who? You are only deceiving yourselves, not God. And you who is stealing government funds, subjecting the poor to untold hardship; you who steal oil subsidy money, making Nigerians pay for fuel through their noses; you who steal funds meant for improving our power supply, deliberately making Nigerians live a life in utter darkness, will you repent today? I doubt it!”“

It is true that ICPC, EFCC, the Police, judiciary may not catch you stealing. But believe me, the all-seeing, all-knowing, all-wise and the almighty God sees you very clearly. But, He is patiently waiting for you to return to the path of sanity and righteousness.”

JABU NEWS: 5 HOURS OF WORSHIP AS SACO, D1, LONGIANO THRILLS AUDIENCE.

The 5 hours first musical concerts, which was tagged festival of praise, took place at the Joseph Ayo Babalola Auditorium, on the 27^th of may, 2012, involving celebrities like Saco, D1, Longiano and others.

Jabu’s Chapel Mass Choir

The musical concert started by 2:00pm contrary to the normal time of evening worship that holds at 5:00pm on Sundays and lasts till 7:00pm. The choir took the congregation to the extreme peak of satisfaction and enjoyment. The population of student at the event was many compare to other Sundays, despite that the Sunday service was finished late because of the children’s day that was celebrated during the service.

During the program, apart from Music rendered by the choirs, Comedy was not left out. SACO, D1 from Covenant University and longiano from the host institution was at the event to make people laugh.The program was described as a success and its first impression on the people is encouraging that the people demanded for the disk and the chaplain promised to meet their demands.

Two Housewives Set Suspected Husbands’ Lovers Ablaze

In Ebonyi state, first wives demonstrate their anger against their husbands for taking second wives by setting the intruder ablaze, and making sure they are burnt to death.

Women are generally cast in the mold of meek, compassionate and in fact weaker vessels when it comes to emotional issues and tasks requiring practical display of energy. But that gentle and fragile mien pales into insignificance when it comes to defending their territory in matters of love and matrimonial relationships.Even the Holy Bible warns of the fury of an injured and jealous woman, which is comparable to a tempestuous and destructive storm.
The most recent tragic event occurred two weeks ago at Akpoha community in Afikpo North local government area of the state, when a house wife simply identified as Ogeri allegedly set her husband’s lover ablaze.

The fire burnt the co- wife to death. Tragically too, when the alleged offender was arrested by the police, her one-year-old child died probably out of shock. Ogeri’s husband, Mr. UroObasi, a commercial motor cycle operator was also arrested.The victim of the recent Akpoha tragedy, a 22 year-old girl, whose name was given as Miss Felicia hailed from Igbo in Abi local government area of Cross River State. It is not yet clear if she was ever married to Obasi, as the first wife is claiming.

The marriage theory appears to have crashed when family members described it as false, baseless and misleading. Rather, they said that Felicia came to the Apostolic Church Akpoha to seek solutions to her numerous personal and psychological problems and had on arrival, requested Obasi, a member of the same church, to assist her secure accommodation, and even provide her with food items.Newsmen gathered that instead of getting accommodation for Felicia in a different location in the town, Obasi asked her to move into his matrimonial home. Thereafter, he reportedly explained to his mother Mrs. Virginia Oko, and his wife that Felicia was stranded and he decided to assist her by bringing her to their matrimonial home.

Apparently, his wife didn’t believe the story. She was said to have interpreted her husband’s kind gesture towards a visitor “in dire need of assistance” to mean a veiled arrangement to take a second wife.
And filled with fury over her husband’s action, Ogeri, according to an eye witness, emptied two litres of petrol through the back window of a room occupied by Ogeri at about 11am while she was asleep, and discreetly set the room ablaze.When the fire started, the cry of the victim attracted neighbours, who broke the door before she ran out stark naked with fire all over her body. The neighbours could not save Felicia’s life as she died on the way to the hospital.

Nwaokpuru a neighbour living close to where the incident happened said: “I was in my room one night when I heard someone shouting Jesus …Jesus…Jesus… I quickly rushed out to see what was happening though before then the whole place had been covered by smoke … I saw someone, a woman, run out of the room, still shouting Jesus…Jesus…Jesus…and she happened to be Felicia”.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi State Police Command, Mr. John UkieEluu, an assistant superintendent of police confirmed the incident to Newsmen.

Cultists beat up a Student to death

Two students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, have been arrested by the police for allegedly beating a second-year National Diploma Mass Communication student, Adeola Balogun, to death.
The father of the deceased, Rev. Adekunle Balogun-Arogunjo, broke down in tears in Osogbo on Tuesday, while narrating his son’s death.He described his son as a gentle, humble and kind student, who was dutiful and obedient.He said a relative called him on Monday night to inform him that his son was engaged in a free-for-all with some students in Iree.
“I tried his phone number all night but I couldn’t get across to him. I decided to go to the school today (Tuesday) but nobody told me anything about the whereabouts of his corpse,” he said.
The father added that he had been to the public mortuary in Ikirun but could not locate his corpse, calling on the police to release his son’s remains to him.
It was gathered that the school authorities swung into action by arresting two of the suspected students that beat Balogun to death.
A statement by the Head of the school’s Public Relations Unit, Mr. Tope Abiola, said “The suspects were handed over to the police for their involvement in a fracas among cult members on Saturday.
“The students (names withheld) were alleged to have inflicted severe injuries on some students at Eyinade area of Ikirun Road, which is situated outside the campus of the institution.
“The school authorities condemned the attack and urged the police to bring the culprits to book
The Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Kalafite Adeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said investigation was ongoing.
“We are investigating the case; it is still fresh. One of the students died while the other one is still unconscious,” she said.

News: Jonathan denies complicity in alleged N155bn oil block scam

President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, denied his alleged complicity in a N155 billion oil block scandal allegedly involving Shell, ENI subsidiaries in Nigeria, a Nigerian oil firm and a former Petroleum Minister, Mr Dan Etete.

The President who had kept mum since an online news medium, Premium Times, last week, disclosed that it had secured documents revealing how he (Jonathan) okayed the secret payment of N155 billion from the federation account to a private oil company owned by the ex-Minister who was earlier convicted on a money laundering charge, yesterday, described the allegation as baseless, insisting that “it has become necessary to issue a comprehensive response to these allegations to set the records straight.”

It will be recalled that a report by the United States-based anti-corruption NGO, Global Witness, said that Nigerian subsidiaries of Shell and ENI agreed to pay $1.092 billion to the Federal Government for oil block OPL 245.

The report which was entitled, “Shell’s obscure payments kill its case for weak US and EU transparency laws”, equally alleged that the Federal Government then paid the entire N155 billion to Malabu Oil and Gas, a company owned by Mr. Etete, who was the oil Minister under late General Sani Abacha.

Meanwhile, in a follow-up story, the online news medium, contended that the money was paid on the order of President Jonathan, adding: “Our investigation also indicates that in order to cover up what is clearly one of the most elaborate corruption schemes in Nigeria’s history, the president tapped the junior minister in the Finance Ministry, Yerima Ngama, and Attorney General Mohammed Adoke to hurriedly transfer the funds to Mr. Etete on August 16, 2011, a day before the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, assumed office.”

Govt only acted as mere facilitator

Reacting to the allegations yesterday, President Jonathan, through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, stressed that contrary to the insinuations, the government only acted as “mere facilitator of an amicable settlement between two disputing parties over a long standing dispute with obvious economic implications for the country.

“In view of the misrepresentations and obvious mischief in reporting the role of the Federal Government, its agencies and officials in the settlement of the dispute, it has become necessary to issue a comprehensive response to these allegations so as to set the records straight and properly explain the role played by the Federal Government, its agencies and officials in accordance with this administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.

Police arrest 5 students with charms, alcohol

In Abeokuta, men of the Nigeria Security  and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, arrested no fewer than five secondary schools students at M.K.O. Abiola Stadium,  the venue of the Children’s Day Celebration, for being  in possession of charms and intoxicated drinks.

The arrest came after Governor Ibikunle Amosun had warned students to shun any anti-social activities  but to be  upright in all  their  undertakings.

Amosun, while addressing the students, admonished them to begin the writing of  their own history, so that  their tomorrow could be asured.

He said: “As leaders of tomorrow, you must strive to be upright in all your undertakings. You should cultivate the virtues of discipline, decency, seriousness of purpose, focus, and respect for constituted authority and appreciation of dignity of labour.”

Also, Governor Olusegun Mimiko said one of the notable achievements of his government is the enthronement of peace and order in the state under which the children can be trained to actualise their potentials.

Speaking at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade, Akure, venue of the celebration, Gov. Mimiko said, “children of Ondo State are being exposed to a culture of peace, security, healthy, modern and clean environment as opposed to the ambience of insecurity, intolerance and violence of the era gone by.”

During the Children’s Day parade and rally at the Police College Parade Ground, GRA, Ikeja, the Lagos State Government announced  the introduction of inclusive schools for the physically- challenged students in the state which is aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school-children and also giving them a sense of belonging.

Gov. Babatunde Fashola: “There are  31 of such inclusive schools carved out of existing schools in the state and children should be their brother’s keepers by helping the physically- challenged in their schools.”

Meantime, the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, has flagged off the registration of compulsory free nursery/universal basic education for the 2012/13 school year.

Pointing out that the exercise will help reduce the number of OOSC in the state, SUBEB Board Secretary, Mrs. Titi Oluseye, said plans had been concluded to introduce the free mid-day meals so as to keep registered children in schools.

JABU NEWS: THE FIRST EVENING OF WORSHIP

The evening of worship took place at Joseph Ayo Babalola university auditorium, on the 20^th may, 2012, where the choirs were out to worship the lord.

JABU in its first state of celebrating the evening of worship was led by Mr. Deji Aiyesimoju while the congregation was filled with the Holy Spirit. When the praises was going on, pastor Magbagbeola came out to read psalm 24.During that time, Pastor J.G. Miller came to lead the worship. The C.A.C gospel hymn book was sung by the congregation. While the worship continued, Brother Deji Aiyesimoju called on each chorister to lead the worship. Some of the guest that was invited to the programme were: the vice chancellor, Prof.Sola Fajana, the Registrar, Barr. Wale Aderibigbe and other men of God like pastor J.G. Miller(the university chaplain)pastor D.O. Alabi, pastor B.Babalola and other anointed men of God including the working and non-working staffs.

During the ministration, the university chaplain (Pastor J.G. Miller) asked those that are yet to receive Christ as their savior to come out, so that he can pray for them. Many students came out and accepted Christ as their savior and instantly, they were saved. After that, the congregation started singing unto God for what he has done in their lives.

                In conclusion, the university chaplain requested that the vice chancellor should take the benediction and it was granted. After the benediction, the congregation departed happily.

Nigeria’s Children: Do they still have hope………

Ngugi wa Thiong’o’s Weep Not Child captures the struggles of the African child, detailing its quest for survival. As many join children today in marking the Children’s Day, many have wondered at the reason for such celebration. Ajayi Taiwo Peter in this piece looks at the frustrations of the Nigerian child and its dwindling reason to hope.
THE sun’s intensity was high; its rays tore through everything on its path. Cynthia looked so much relieved in sleep. The pavement where she was taking her nap had flies yet she slept with utmost abandonment. It was obvious from her frame that she was little about age seven. A tray containing oranges was carefully placed beside her. In that sleepy state, she still made intermittent efforts to reach to the tray, thereby ensuring that it was still safe. A car sped past where she slept and that ruffled her nap. Getting up, she quickly picked her tray of wares and hurriedly moved along.

Cynthia’s situation aptly typifies the plight of the Nigerian child. It was against such that the United Nations many years ago took into cognizance the establishment of the United Nations International Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in 1946. The move was a primary measure to provide succor for children who had had ravaging experiences of war. Unsatisfied by this, the United Nations took another step in 1989 in adopting at its General Assembly, the right of the child. The thrust of such move was to facilitate the improvement of the quality of life of the child and to specifically focus global attention on the state of the child.

It must be stated that as grim as the state of the Nigerian child stands, Nigeria remains a signatory to the adoption of the child right by the United Nations. The child right clearly spells out the privileges of any child irrespective of the country of residence. From the cold corridors of the Southern Nigeria to the dusty domains of Northern Nigeria, the Nigerian child has constantly survived dehumanizing deprivation; its rights to education have consistently been questioned.

Despite the fact that Nigeria has enacted the Child Right Act, time and time over, the Nigerian child has been emasculated under the burden of role reversal. In many homes, not only are they forced out at the early hours of the day to hawk in dangerous highways, they are made to fend for other members of their families. It is not gainsaying the fact that the survival of these children are hinged on their (in)ability to remain financially relevant in the running of their homes.
“I often tell myself that it is hypocritical to take these kids out on Children’s Day and give them the false hope that they have a future. What future do they have? Is it the future that the older generation has systematically eaten away?”
For children all over Nigeria, Children’s Day will remain a day like every other day considering the biting lack that gnaws at them. On daily basis such rights, like the child’s right to protection, education, health-care, protection from child labor and sexual harassment, exploitation and drug abuse, unhindered rights to descent and affordable standard of living, right to being constantly protected from neglect and abuse, unfettered access to leisure, rest and play, right to been protected from illegal transfer and illicit adoption, right to non-discrimination in whatever guise, and right to live, are repeatedly disregarded.

Statistics show that Africa has about 10 per cent of the world’s population. Intriguing as this may be, Africa also records about 40 per cent of childhood deaths. The records indicate that many of those who survive are orphaned by the dreaded HIV/AIDS. It is disturbing that preventable diseases like pneumonia, measles, diarrhea, and malaria still pose as great death threats to many children in Nigeria.
As bleak as the frustrations may be, one would also commend the various governmental and non-governmental organizations that are championing the course of the Nigerian child. What readily comes to mind today in Nigeria that captures the dismal state of the Nigerian child is the Almajiri menace in the North. Yet the Federal Government has taken steps in this direction to see if the situation could be helped.

It is yet another Children’s Day, the question on many lips is what hope is there for the Nigerian child? What future can it boast of?

why Christian Universities is for the rich and not the poor in Nigeria

Mere looking at the Nigerian present situation, it is something to be proud of, and not to be proud of. we have come to the conclusion that private school, which is suppose to be the hope of the masses, is now where they run away from, and where the rich people, now see as a place of comfort. Our religious leaders have certainly established the fact that education is a solid building block for a stable and successful future in a child’s life; they have gone as far as building Universities to physically state their point.

We applaud the congregation of these churches who offered their tithes, donations and weekly offering to see this vision come to light; in turn expecting that their widows might pay off when their children can acquire a decent education through these schools. Not an unreasonable assumption I must add.
On the bright side, these universities have long been completed unlike most projects in Nigeria, the downside is you need to have bagged some cash to afford sending one child let alone two to the now termed ‘Nigerian Elite Universities‘. Here are a list of these universities and an approximate fee that you need to pay to attend.

1. BOWEN University owned and operated by a Baptist Convention, charges ₦650,000 as tuition fees per session.

2. COVENANT University established by Bishop Oyedepo of Winners Chapel ₦640,000 as tuition fees per session.

3. BENSON IDAHOSA University charges ₦500,000 as tuition fees per session.

4. BABCOCK University established by The Seventh Day Adventist, charges ₦450,000 as tuition fees per session.

5. REDEEMERS University owned by The Redeemed Christian Church of God , charges ₦450,000 as tuition fees per session.

6. AJAYI CROWTHER University established by The Supra diocesan board of the church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), charges ₦350,000per session.
7. MADONNA University a Catholic University charges ₦350,000 as tuition fees per session.

All of these universities were built from tithes and offerings of the people who now cannot afford to send their children there to study. Where has the moral of the church gone?

These schools were all built by the efforts of their congregations who kept sowing seeds; special offering seeds, first fruit seed, redemption seed, thanksgiving seed, harvest seed, tithes, pastor’s birthday seed, church building seed, evangelism seed, father’s day seed, mother’s day seed, children’s day seed, pastor’s cake seed, olive oil seed, insecticide seed, indomie seed, ground nut seed, miscellaneous seed, etc seed. These schools are now elite schools, only for the children of the rich. The gainers then use the proceeds to buy private planes and jets to fly up high in luxury while their members sleep hungry and next Sunday, they will read and preach Malachi 3:6-12.
